Stick It Wrapper Review: A Protective Cloth That Sticks to Itself
Image credit: Tomokatsu YukishitaThis is a review of Stick It Wrapper, a strange protective cloth that sticks to itself when layered. I bought it to protect my lenses, and I also tested both the M and XL sizes with real gear.
The Problem: How Do You Carry a Huge Telephoto Lens?
I recently bought the mirrorless lens TAMRON 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD. Because it covers a super-telephoto range, it is fairly large. Carrying it around without protection felt like a good way to scratch it up inside my bag, so I started looking for some kind of case.
Hard Cases Are Too Bulky
There are dedicated hard cases on the market, but they make an already large lens even bulkier. I wanted something more compact that would still protect against scratches. That search led me to a wrap-style protective cloth.
The Solution: Stick It Wrapper
What I bought was Stick It Wrapper, a protective cloth that clings to itself when layered. It does not use Velcro, but the material grips when you wrap it around something.

I bought both the M size and the XL size because I did not want to guess wrong on sizing.

First Impressions
My first reaction when I took it out of the package was, “This is stiffer than I expected.” If you are imagining something soft and fluffy, this is not that.
That stiffness is probably part of what makes the material grip when layered. It still felt safe enough to use around a lens.

Size Comparison
M Size with a Large Telephoto Lens
First, I tried the M size (350 mm x 350 mm) with the TAMRON 150-500mm.

The result was borderline. You can wrap it, but there is not much room to spare, so the hold feels a little insecure. For a lens this large, the M size is not ideal. It seems better suited to a standard zoom, a small prime, or a compact camera.
XL Size with a Large Telephoto Lens
Next, I tried the XL size (580 mm x 580 mm).

This one has plenty of room. It wraps a large lens much more comfortably and gives a much better sense of security. If your main target is a large telephoto lens, I would recommend the XL size without hesitation.
Can It Wrap a 16-inch MacBook Pro?
Since the XL size is this large, I also tried it with a 16-inch MacBook Pro (2021 model).

It turned out to be a very good fit. If you want a slim way to protect a laptop inside a bag, this is a surprisingly practical use case.
Quality and Value
In terms of quality, I would say it is about what you would expect for the price. It does not feel luxurious, but it does the job.
One thing to keep in mind is that this is mainly for scratch protection. It is not meant to absorb a serious impact. If you drop a lens or laptop while it is wrapped in this, you should not expect the cloth to save it.
Final Thoughts
This is a good solution if you think:
“I do not need a big dedicated case, but I also do not want to throw expensive gear into my bag unprotected.”
My takeaways are simple:
- M size works better for standard lenses, compact cameras, and smaller gadgets.
- XL size works much better for large telephoto lenses and 15- to 16-inch laptops.
Because it folds down small when not in use, it is easy to keep one in your camera bag. If you want lightweight protection without bulk, Stick It Wrapper is worth a look.
